Elbow, Wrist & Hand

Get your grip back.

Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, aching wrists. Arm pain shows up where you use it most, but it often starts further up the chain. We treat both ends.

Is this you?

Hands and arms acting up?

The arm has a few classic complaints. Recognize yours?

Why it happens

Your arm is the end of a whip.

Your hands do the fine work, but the power is meant to come from your shoulder and trunk. We see it constantly: when that platform is weak or stiff, your forearm muscles overwork on every grip, lift, and keystroke, and eventually the tissue complains.

Nerve symptoms make it trickier. Tingling in your fingers can start at the wrist, but it can just as easily start at the neck. Sorting out where your symptoms actually come from is the first thing we do, because treating the wrong spot wastes months.

Myth vs. reality

Things you've heard that aren't true.

Bad information keeps a lot of people hurting longer than they should. Let's clear a few up.

"Carpal tunnel always ends in surgery."

Many cases improve with conservative care, especially when caught early. And some “carpal tunnel” turns out to involve the neck, which surgery on the wrist won't help.

"Just wear a brace."

A brace can quiet symptoms, but it's the rest piece, not the fix. Without restoring strength and mechanics, symptoms tend to return the day you stop wearing it.

"Tennis elbow only comes from tennis."

Any repetitive gripping can cause it: tools, keyboards, cooking, lifting. The treatment is the same either way, and it works.

Good questions

Elbow, wrist & hand pain, answered.

How long does tennis elbow take to heal?
With a proper loading program, most people improve steadily over six to twelve weeks. It responds to the right dose of strengthening, not to waiting it out.
Why do my fingers go numb at night?
Sleeping with curled wrists compresses the nerve pathways. A night splint helps short term, but daytime mechanics and nerve mobility are usually the real story.
Can I keep typing with wrist pain?
Usually yes, with setup changes and micro-break strategies we'll coach you through. Quitting work isn't a treatment plan, and it's rarely necessary.
Do I need a nerve test?
Sometimes, for persistent or worsening nerve symptoms. Your therapist screens for the signs that warrant one and will coordinate with your physician if needed.
Physical therapy or surgery for carpal tunnel?
For mild to moderate cases, conservative care is the recommended starting point. If your presentation suggests surgery is the better path, we'll tell you honestly.
