Sports Injuries

Come back stronger than you left.

From weekend warriors to competitive athletes, we treat the injury, find the breakdown that caused it, and build you back for the sport you love.

Sports injuries follow patterns. Here are the ones we see weekly.

Why it happens

Injuries happen where the chain breaks down.

Most non-contact injuries are the last chapter of a longer story, and we have read that story many times. A stiff ankle changes your cut. A weak hip changes your stride. The tissue that finally fails is usually the one that spent months compensating for a problem somewhere else.

That's why we don't just rehab the injury. We find the breakdown that produced it and fix that too. It's the difference between getting back to your sport and getting back to the same injury.

Myth vs. reality

Things you've heard that aren't true.

Bad information keeps a lot of people hurting longer than they should. Let's clear a few up.

"No pain, no gain. Play through it."

Training discomfort is normal. Pain that changes your mechanics is not, and playing through that is how small problems become season-enders.

"Rest until it's gone."

Weeks of pure rest cost you fitness while fixing nothing. A guided, progressive return beats waiting almost every time.

"Stretching prevents all injuries."

Flexibility is one small piece. Strength, load management, and movement quality do far more to keep athletes on the field.

Insurance & getting started

No referral needed. Most insurance accepted.

In Illinois you can start physical therapy without a doctor's referral, so there's nothing standing between you and relief. We accept most major plans and offer self-pay options. Not sure about your coverage? We'll check it for you before your first visit.

Good questions

Sports injuries, answered.

Can I keep playing while I rehab?
Often yes, with modifications. We'd rather adjust your training than shut you down completely, whenever that's safe for the injury.
How do I know when I'm ready to return?
We test it: strength symmetry, movement quality, and sport-specific demands. You return when the numbers say you're ready, not just when the pain quiets down.
How do I stop getting the same injury?
Repeat injuries usually mean the original cause was never fixed. Our whole-chain assessment is designed to find exactly that.
Do you work with youth athletes?
Yes, regularly. Growing bodies have their own rules, and we adjust load and expectations accordingly. We also offer sport-specific programs from golf to gymnastics.
What if I got hurt outside of sports?
Same body, same approach. Whether it happened on a court or a curb, we treat the injury and the mechanics behind it.
