Who this is for

This program is for you if…

Recreational to elite, we speak gymnastics.

Our approach

Gymnasts are told to push through. We listen instead.

Gymnastics loads growing bodies like almost no other sport, and its culture teaches kids to hide pain. Wrists, spines, and heels quietly absorb thousands of impacts, and small problems become big ones when nobody's watching.

We watch. Our therapists understand skills, progressions, and growth plates, and we build plans that respect both the sport and the growing athlete, keeping them in the gym safely wherever possible.

How we help

Strong skills, safe landings.

How we care for gymnasts.

Impact injury care

Focused treatment for the wrists, back, knees, and heels that take the sport's biggest loads.

Growth-aware planning

Care that accounts for growth plates and development, in and out of growth spurts.

Skill-based return progressions

Returning to skills step by step, from basics to full difficulty, in gym-friendly language.

Strength & control

Targeted strength that supports flexibility with control, the foundation of safe gymnastics.

Insurance & getting started

No referral needed. Most insurance accepted.

In Illinois you can start physical therapy without a doctor's referral, so there's nothing standing between you and relief. We accept most major plans and offer self-pay options. Not sure about your coverage? We'll check it for you before your first visit.

Your first visit

What to expect, start to finish.

Here's exactly what your first visit looks like.

1

We listen first

We start with your history, your symptoms, and the goals that matter to you.

2

We find the cause

We look at how your whole body moves to find what's driving your pain, not just where it hurts.

3

You leave with a plan

A hands-on treatment plan built around your body and your life, and a therapist who stays with you the whole way.

Common gymnast complaints

What we treat.

One team, one standard

The same care at every clinic.

Every therapist on our team is trained in the entirety of the kinetic chain. That means we look at how your whole body moves, not just the part that hurts, and treat the cause instead of the symptom. You get that same care at all 10 of our clinics.

One proven approach

The same hands-on, whole-body approach guides every plan we build.

One standard, every clinic

Every clinic is held to the same standard, set by therapists with advanced training in how the body moves.

A team that knows you

You'll see the same faces at your home clinic, people who know your name and your goals.

Results that speak

You're in good hands.

"…Thank you also to Joe, Rachel, Annie, and Zaneta, for being nice to me, working with me patiently, watching my form, and being great cheerleaders in general. I cannot recommend Sports and Ortho enough. And I do, to all my friends."

"Prior to starting PT with Tina, I felt like my back would never get better. I injured my back as a gymnast in 2019, I had seen several doctors, chiropractors, and PTs, I had injections, acupuncture, e-stim, every treatment you could think of."

Good questions

Gymnastics rehab, answered.

Does my gymnast have to stop training?
Usually not completely. We work with coaches to modify events and skills so healing and training can coexist.
Is back pain normal in gymnastics?
Common, yes. Normal, no. Arching-related back pain in young gymnasts deserves prompt attention, and early care prevents bigger problems.
Do you understand gymnastics skills?
Yes. We speak the language of skills and progressions, and we coordinate with coaches so return plans make sense in the gym.
What about growth-plate injuries?
Growth-plate awareness is built into every plan for a growing gymnast, including load management during growth spurts.
Do I need a referral?
For most plans, no. Illinois direct access lets you book directly with us. Medicare and workers' comp do require a referral, and we'll confirm your coverage before your first visit.
