Pre-Surgical PT

Go into surgery stronger. Come out ahead.

Prehab builds strength, motion, and confidence before your operation, and research links it to smoother, faster recoveries afterward.

Who this is for

Prehab is for you if…

The weeks before surgery are an opportunity. Let's use them.

Our approach

The best recovery starts before surgery.

The stronger and more mobile you are walking into the operating room, the better your starting point walking out. Prehab builds the strength, range of motion, and movement habits your recovery will draw on.

It also takes the fear out of what comes next. You'll learn the exercises, meet the team, and know the plan, so after surgery you're not starting from scratch, you're picking up where you left off.

How we help

Ready for surgery, ready for recovery.

What prehab includes.

Baseline strength & mobility

We measure where you are and build targeted strength and motion so you start recovery ahead.

Learn your rehab early

You'll practice your post-op exercises now, so nothing about recovery feels unfamiliar.

Home & recovery planning

Practical preparation for the first weeks after surgery, from setup at home to realistic expectations.

A team that already knows you

Your post-surgical rehab continues with the same clinic and the same familiar faces.

Insurance & getting started

No referral needed. Most insurance accepted.

In Illinois you can start physical therapy without a doctor's referral, so there's nothing standing between you and relief. We accept most major plans and offer self-pay options. Not sure about your coverage? We'll check it for you before your first visit.

Your first visit

What to expect, start to finish.

Here's exactly what your first visit looks like.

1

We listen first

We start with your history, your symptoms, and the goals that matter to you.

2

We find the cause

We look at how your whole body moves to find what's driving your pain, not just where it hurts.

3

You leave with a plan

A hands-on treatment plan built around your body and your life, and a therapist who stays with you the whole way.

Common procedures we prep for

Getting you ready for

One team, one standard

The same care at every clinic.

Every therapist on our team is trained in the entirety of the kinetic chain. That means we look at how your whole body moves, not just the part that hurts, and treat the cause instead of the symptom. You get that same care at all 10 of our clinics.

One proven approach

The same hands-on, whole-body approach guides every plan we build.

One standard, every clinic

Every clinic is held to the same standard, set by therapists with advanced training in how the body moves.

A team that knows you

You'll see the same faces at your home clinic, people who know your name and your goals.

Results that speak

You're in good hands.

Good questions

Pre-surgical PT, answered.

Does prehab really make a difference?
Research links pre-surgical conditioning to smoother recoveries, and it consistently helps with confidence and knowing what to expect. Your surgeon can tell you what's realistic for your procedure.
How many weeks of prehab do I need?
Even a few sessions help. If you have several weeks before surgery, we can accomplish a lot. We'll build around your surgery date.
Could prehab help me avoid surgery?
Sometimes, depending on the condition. If meaningful progress is possible without surgery, we'll be honest with you about it, and coordinate with your physician.
Is prehab covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by plan, and we'll check yours before your first visit. Self-pay options are available.
Do I need a referral?
For most plans, no. In Illinois you can start physical therapy without a referral, so you can begin as soon as surgery is on the calendar. Medicare does require a referral for coverage, and we'll confirm your benefits first.
