Support that moves with you.

Flexible, breathable tape applied with purpose: easing pain, guiding better movement, and supporting healing without locking you down.

What it can do for you

What smart taping can do.

It's about the application, not the tape.

Eases pain on the move

Gentle skin lift changes pressure and sensation, quieting pain while you stay active.

Cues better movement

The tape's stretch reminds your body of the pattern we're retraining, hundreds of times a day.

Supports without stiffening

Protects a healing area while letting you move, unlike rigid bracing.

Helps swelling drain

Lifting patterns assist the body in moving fluid out of a swollen area.

In plain English

So, what is it?

Kinesio tape is elastic, breathable cotton tape that stretches like skin. Applied with specific direction and tension, it gently lifts the skin, changing pressure, sensation, and fluid movement underneath.

The tape you've seen on professional athletes is the same idea. The value isn't the colorful strips, it's the assessment behind where and how they're applied.

How we use it in your care

A tool, never the whole plan.

Tape is a bridge, not a cure. It carries the work of your session into the days between visits, cueing your movement and calming symptoms while the real changes take root.

As your strength and control improve, you'll need the bridge less and less. When the tape comes off for good, that's the plan working.

Common questions, up front

Taping, clarified.

The things everyone wants to know before their first visit.

Does the tape actually do anything?

Applied with purpose, yes: research supports modest pain and swelling benefits. Slapped on randomly, no. Assessment is the difference.

How long does it stay on?

Three to five days typically, through showers and workouts.

Will it irritate my skin?

Most tolerate it well. Tell us about sensitive skin or adhesive allergies and we'll test or choose alternatives.

Getting started

Good questions

Kinesio taping, answered.

Can I shower and train with the tape on?
Yes. Pat it dry rather than rubbing, and it typically lasts several days of normal life and training.
Can you teach me to apply it myself?
For many applications, yes. We'll show you or a family member the technique for home reapplication.
Is it a replacement for a brace?
Different jobs. Tape supports and cues while allowing motion; rigid braces restrict it. Your therapist will tell you which your situation needs.
Why the different colors?
Color is cosmetic. Direction, stretch, and placement are what matter.
Do I need a referral?
For most plans, no. Illinois direct access lets you book directly with us. Medicare and workers' comp do require a referral, and we'll confirm your coverage before your first visit.
