Woman-Owned Physical Therapy Practice Serving Chicago Since 2003

As a woman-owned, family-run clinic operating since 2003, we’re proud to offer a different kind of care—one that’s personal, purposeful, and rooted in integrity.

Our Philosophy of Care:

Restore

We restore natural movement by identifying the true source of your pain and addressing how your entire body works together—hands on, we help you move freely and comfortably again.

Empower

We empower your recovery through personalized treatment, education, and clarity—so you understand your body, your plan, and how to stay strong long after therapy ends.

Uplift

We uplift your spirit by treating you as a whole person, not a diagnosis—body, mind, and soul. Supporting your confidence, motivation, and well-being throughout your healing journey.

Why Choose Us?

Sports and Ortho Physical Therapy is a woman-owned, family-run private physical therapy practice proudly serving the Chicagoland area. Our purpose is simple and unwavering: to restore mobility, empower recovery, and uplift the spirit through hands-on, high-quality care that we believe is often missing in today’s physical therapy world. We take a full-body, kinetic chain approach to care looking beyond where it hurts to understand why it hurts. Using a combination of advanced manual therapy techniques, functional movement assessment, and individualized exercise, we treat the root cause of pain or dysfunction, not just the symptoms. Our goal is to help your body move better, feel stronger, and perform the way it was meant to.
What sets us apart is our commitment to quality, compassion, and individuality. We are the large neighborhood practice with a small-clinic feel where personalized attention, one-on-one care, and meaningful relationships matter. Every patient is seen, heard, and treated as a whole person, not a diagnosis. We know you have a choice when it comes to physical therapy. At Sports and Ortho, we work for you—100%—to help you move forward with confidence, resilience, and renewed strength.

What Is Applied Functional Science?

At Sports & Ortho, we practice Applied Functional Science (AFS)—an advanced, movement-based approach to physical therapy developed by the Gray Institute. This philosophy looks at the body as an integrated system, focusing on how all parts work together to create efficient, pain-free movement. Rather than treating a single muscle or joint in isolation, AFS recognizes that the body functions as a connected kinetic chain. Pain in one area is often the result of limitations or dysfunction somewhere else. By identifying and addressing the true source of the problem, we can help patients recover more completely and prevent future injuries. Learn more about AFS here.

The Only Clinic in Chicago with Fellowship-Trained Physical Therapists Who Truly Understand Movement

What truly sets Sports and Ortho apart is our unmatched depth of training in human movement, function, and biomechanics. Our clinicians don’t simply follow protocols, we are trained to think, assess, and treat movement at the highest level. Sports and Ortho has the highest concentration of Fellowship-trained physical therapists in Applied Functional Science in the Chicagoland area. This advanced fellowship training represents one of the most rigorous and respected pathways in functional movement and kinetic chain biomechanics and is held by fewer than 300 physical therapists worldwide. This level of education allows us to evaluate how the body works as an integrated system; identifying inefficiencies, compensations, and breakdowns that others often miss. It is the foundation of our hands-on, movement-driven approach and the reason our care delivers meaningful, lasting results.

Patient Success Stories

Before coming to Sports and Ortho, I had a noticeable limp due to Achilles tendonitis. I was dealing with swelling and pain, but after therapy, the swelling went down significantly. I can now walk and stretch with ease, and my limp is completely gone.
Andrea B.
When I first came to Sports and Ortho, I had very limited mobility and range of motion in my shoulder. After completing my therapy sessions, my range of motion improved drastically, and my shoulder feels as good as it did before my injury.
Andy L.
I’ve only been coming here for a few months and honestly didn’t expect much since I’m not a fan of meeting new people in this kind of setting. But I was pleasantly surprised! I came in with carpal tunnel syndrome and shoulder issues, and now I hardly feel any carpal tunnel pain in my wrists.
Angelica Guerrero
I came in on my own with what I suspected was Achilles tendonitis. I had been doing self-care at home but wasn’t seeing any progress. Lauren helped me get back to the point where I can walk with little to no discomfort — which is such a huge improvement.
Antoinette J.
